Review of 2019 İstanbul Biennial Through A Focus on 10 Artists
The 16th Istanbul Biennial, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) under the sponsorship of Koç Holding, opened its doors on September under the title of “Seventh Continent“. The Biennial can be visited free of charge at Pera Museum, Büyükada and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Istanbul Painting and Sculpture Museum until November 10, 2019. The title of this year's biennial is inspired by the name “Seventh Continent” which scientists have given to the huge amount of waste floating in the oceans all around the world.
The curator of the 16th Istanbul Biennial is French curator, writer and academician Nicolas Bourriaud. Although every production to be exhibited at the 16th Istanbul Biennial is intriguing and valuable, we have researched the production practices of the 10 artists we are curious about.
